Subina Shrestha is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester. Shrestha’s work draws on human geography, environmental governance, and urban studies to understand the socio-politics in creating sustainable cities, with a particular emphasis on different actors and their agency - from individual to collective. She is interested in understanding how spaces of urban solidarity come to be and how they can be scaled. She holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Bergen, where her work thesis examined urban sustainability governance in Norway and the Netherlands, exploring how public and private actors navigate issues of competing interests, power and agency in the pursuit of ‘sustainable’ cities. Shrestha is also passionate about non-academic forms of dissemination and routinely engages in blogs, op-eds and podcasts.
