Matthew Paterson is a Professor of International Politics at the University of Manchester, where he also serves as Research Director at the Sustainable Consumption Institute. He is a world-leading political scientist and scholar of climate politics, focusing on the political economy, global governance, and cultural politics of climate change.
His research portfolio spans critical areas, including carbon markets, UNFCCC negotiations, the political economy of decarbonisation, and the disruptive dynamics of energy transitions.
His most recent book is In Search of Climate Politics (2021), and his earlier publications include Global Warming and Global Politics (1996).
