Samanthi Theminimulle is a Senior Research Manager at The Young Foundation, designing and delivering research in support of a socially and ecologically just transition. For the JUST Centre, she manages the delivery of the centre’s impact programme, working to integrate impact across the centre and mobilise our research and evidence into meaningful change with and for practitioners and policymakers working towards JUST futures.
Samanthi has a background in political ecology and environmental justice, and has previously worked on projects with policymakers, communities and third sector and grassroots organisations in support of housing justice, climate justice, and urban spatial justice. Her approach to research is grounded in equity, and she works predominantly with qualitative, participatory and creative approaches and methods. She has experience of working in the UK and internationally.
Recent publications include Our Journey to Net Zero funded by the Nuffield Foundation, Just Climate Futures published by Bristol University Press, and Principles for a Socially Inclusive Net Zero published in Geography and Environment. She has previously collaborated with organisations such as Digital Commons Cooperative, Civic Square, Care Full and the Barcelona Lab for Urban Environmental Justice and Sustainability.
