Mapenzie Tauzie is a part time researcher at the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) within the School of Earth and Environment, University of Leeds. She works on joined‑up sustainability transformations, with a focus on collaboration, co‑production, and just transitions. Her work centres on developing and coordinating partnerships across research, policy, and community contexts to support place‑based and socially just sustainability action in West Yorkshire.

Mapenzie’s research experience includes co‑produced and participatory methods such as photovoice and community‑based food systems research, working closely with communities to centre lived experience, equity, and inclusion in sustainability transformations. Her research is grounded in social justice and equity. Previous work has focused on women’s empowerment and gendered power relations within food and agricultural systems in Sub‑Saharan Africa. Her PhD research examined youth participation in agriculture, exploring how structural, socio‑economic conditions and inclusive agricultural innovations are shaping young people’s engagement in agri‑food systems. Across her work, Mapenzie integrates governance facilitation, stakeholder brokerage, and justice‑oriented research to support sustainability transformations that are both equitable and deliverable.
