Jenni is a PhD Researcher at the Sustainability Research Institute within the School of Earth and Environment, University of Leeds. Her work is focused on place-based democratic innovation for a just transformation, looking at public deliberation in climate governance in West Yorkshire. The PhD will utilise participatory action research and practice-based methods. Before joining the University, Jenni was Doughnut Economics and Engagement Lead at Climate Action Leeds (CAL), working at both a grassroots level designing, facilitating and co-producing community-led projects, and at a strategic level to join up, amplify and accelerate change. CAL used the Doughnut Economics framework to connect local and global, ecological and social factors and created the first Leeds Doughnut City Portrait. Jenni is a member of the Leeds Climate Commission, an independent advisory body to support and enable the delivery of ambitious climate action across Leeds. Previously she was a Scottish Government policy advisor on civic participation and has held a number of community and leadership roles including in youth work, teaching, and Chairing the Trustee Board at her local community centre.
