Armelle Lee is an Energy Advisor and Director at CREW Energy, specialising in fuel poverty and home energy advice across multiple London boroughs. With a BSc in Geography with Economics, Armelle began her career in cleantech acceleration and nature finance advisory before moving to frontline work, where she now leads CREW’s largest fuel poverty project. Her work bridges climate action, public health, and social equity, helping residents tackle energy challenges while addressing deeper systemic inequalities.
Armelle is committed to designing locally tailored, inclusive solutions that respond to the diverse barriers communities face, from financial exclusion and digital gaps to trust in public schemes. She uses a network-of-networks approach, partnering with councils, community groups, and funders to deliver accessible, practical support such as home energy visits, fuel vouchers, and wellbeing-focused interventions. Her initiatives integrate creative engagement, evidence-informed approaches, and cross-sector collaboration, ensuring residents are empowered to take lasting action.
Key challenges in her work include low public trust in energy schemes, fragmented support structures, and systemic barriers limiting access to retrofit and efficiency measures. Armelle addresses these by building relationships grounded in empathy, transparency, and respect, adapting engagement to local dynamics, and ensuring solutions make sense to the people most affected.
She is motivated by the opportunity to influence a just and equitable transition to net zero, keeping the voices of residents central to policy and practice. Through the Practice-Builders’ Network, Armelle hopes to share insights from frontline energy work, learn from innovative approaches in social and climate justice, and strengthen evidence of social value to support broader, fairer investment in community-led climate solutions.
